A whole generation ¹  will serve him; they will tell the next generation about the sovereign Lord. ² 

May his descendants ¹  be cut off! ²  May the memory of them be wiped out by the time the next generation arrives! ³ 

He has neither children nor descendants ¹  among his people, no survivor in those places he once stayed. ² 

Sinful rebels are totally destroyed; ¹  evil men have no future. ² 

So I am ready to burn up ¹  Baasha and his family, and make your family ²  like the family of Jeroboam son of Nebat.

“I will rise up against them,” says the Lord who commands armies. “I will blot out all remembrance of Babylon and destroy all her people, ¹  including the offspring she produces,” ²  says the Lord.

Now swear to me right here in God’s name ¹  that you will not deceive me, my children, or my descendants. ²  Show me, and the land ³  where you are staying, ⁴  the same loyalty ⁵  that I have shown you.” ⁶ 

Shortly after his rise to power, ¹  his kingdom will be broken up and distributed toward the four winds of the sky ²  – but not to his posterity or with the authority he exercised, for his kingdom will be uprooted and distributed to others besides these.

Take note of the one who has integrity! Observe the godly! ¹  For the one who promotes peace has a future. ² 

This is the destiny of fools, ¹  and of those who approve of their philosophy. ²  (Selah)

“Tell the Israelites, ‘If any ¹  of you or of your posterity become ceremonially defiled by touching a dead body, or are on a journey far away, then he may ²  observe the Passover to the Lord.

God sent me ¹  ahead of you to preserve you ²  on the earth and to save your lives ³  by a great deliverance.

You destroy their offspring ¹  from the earth, their descendants ²  from among the human race. ³ 

The inscription ¹  of the charge against him read, “The king of the Jews.”

The Lord says, ¹  ‘Look, I am ready to bring disaster ²  on you. I will destroy you ³  and cut off every last male belonging to Ahab in Israel, including even the weak and incapacitated. ⁴ 

And I will drive you out of my sight just like I drove out your relatives, the people of Israel.’” ¹ 

The sovereign Lord confirms this oath by his own holy character: ¹  “Certainly the time is approaching ²  when you will be carried away ³  in baskets, ⁴  every last one of you ⁵  in fishermen’s pots. ⁶ 

I will give all the land that you see to you and your descendants ¹  forever.

He must not profane his children among his people, ¹  for I am the Lord who sanctifies him.’”

Surely ¹  I would wear it proudly ²  on my shoulder, I would bind ³  it on me like a crown;
