“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls.

And the twelve gates are twelve pearls – each one of the gates is made from just one pearl! The ¹  main street ²  of the city is pure gold, like transparent glass.

Of coral and jasper no mention will be made; the price ¹  of wisdom is more than pearls. ²

Do not give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls before pigs; otherwise they will trample them under their feet and turn around and tear you to pieces. ¹ 

Likewise ¹  the women are to dress ²  in suitable apparel, with modesty and self-control. ³  Their adornment must not be ⁴  with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing,

Now ¹  the woman was dressed in purple and scarlet clothing, ²  and adorned with gold, ³  precious stones, and pearls. She held ⁴  in her hand a golden cup filled with detestable things and unclean things from her sexual immorality. ⁵

(The gold of that land is pure; ¹  pearls ²  and lapis lazuli ³  are also there).

The furnishings included linen and purple curtains hung by cords of the finest linen ¹  and purple wool on silver rings, alabaster columns, gold and silver couches ²  displayed on a floor made of valuable stones of alabaster, mother-of-pearl, and mineral stone.

There is gold, and an abundance of rubies, but ¹  words of knowledge ²  are like ³  a precious jewel.

headdresses, ankle ornaments, sashes, sachets, ¹  amulets,

The princess ¹  looks absolutely magnificent, ²  decked out in pearls and clothed in a brocade trimmed with gold. ³ 

For wisdom is better than rubies, and desirable things cannot be compared ¹  to her.

Who can find ²  a wife ³  of noble character? ⁴  For her value ⁵  is far more than rubies.
