The naive inherit ¹  folly, but the shrewd ²  are crowned ³  with knowledge.

You who are naive, discern ¹  wisdom! And you fools, understand discernment! ² 

To impart ¹  shrewdness ²  to the morally naive, ³  and ⁴  a discerning ⁵  plan ⁶  to the young person. ⁷ 

and I saw among the naive – I discerned among the youths ¹  – a young man ²  who lacked wisdom. ³ 

“Whoever is naive, let him turn in here,” she says ¹  to those ²  who lack understanding. ³ 

The woman called Folly ¹  is brash, ²  she is naive ³  and does not know ⁴  anything. ⁵ 

A naive person ¹  believes everything, but the shrewd person discerns his steps. ² 

When a scorner is punished, the naive ¹  becomes wise; when a wise person is instructed, ²  he gains knowledge.

For these are the kind who do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By their smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds ¹  of the naive.

But understand this, that in the last days difficult ¹  times will come.

For you say, ‘Where now is the nobleman’s house, ¹  and where are the tents in which the wicked lived?’ ² 

For the waywardness ¹  of the simpletons will kill ²  them, and the careless ease ³  of fools will destroy them.

“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here,” she says to those who lack understanding. ¹ 

Flog ¹  a scorner, and as a result the simpleton ²  will learn prudence; ³  correct a discerning person, and as a result he will understand knowledge. ⁴ 

Beware ¹  of people, because they will hand you over to councils ²  and flog ³  you in their synagogues. ⁴ 

So let the one who thinks he is standing be careful that he does not fall.

Now two hundred men had gone with Absalom from Jerusalem. Since they were invited, they went naively and were unaware of what Absalom was planning. ¹
