So Jesus went on up the mountainside ¹  and sat down there with his disciples.

After he came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him.

Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel went up, ¹ 

Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides, ¹ 

After saying good-bye to them, he went to the mountain to pray.

When ¹  he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain. ²  After he sat down his disciples came to him.

Now ¹  Jesus went up the mountain ²  and called for those he wanted, and they came to him.

For the sovereign master, ¹  the Lord who commands armies, has planned a day of panic, defeat, and confusion. ²  In the Valley of Vision ³  people shout ⁴  and cry out to the hill. ⁵ 

And after he sent the crowds away, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone.

When he left there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up a mountain, where he sat down.

As they were coming down from the mountain, he gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

Now ¹  it was during this time that Jesus ²  went out to the mountain ³  to pray, and he spent all night ⁴  in prayer to God. ⁵ 

Then Jesus, because he knew they were going to come and seize him by force to make him king, withdrew again up the mountainside alone. ¹ 

Howl, fir tree, because the cedar has fallen; the majestic trees have been destroyed. Howl, oaks of Bashan, because the impenetrable forest has fallen.

Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes so he can see.” The Lord opened the servant’s eyes and he saw that ¹  the hill was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

The Lover to His Beloved: O my dove, ¹  in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places of the mountain crags, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.
