Then ¹  his disciples asked him what this parable meant. ² 

They kept this statement to themselves, discussing what this rising from the dead meant.

As for you, you meant to harm me, ¹  but God intended it for a good purpose, so he could preserve the lives of many people, as you can see this day. ² 

So ¹  he called one of the slaves ²  and asked what was happening.

When he heard a crowd going by, he asked what was going on.

But they did not understand this statement and were afraid to ask him.

(Now Jesus had been talking about ¹  his death, but they ²  thought he had been talking about real sleep.) ³ 

“Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both.” ¹  The body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

Jesus could see ¹  that they wanted to ask him about these things, ²  so ³  he said to them, “Are you asking ⁴  each other about this – that I said, ‘In a little while you ⁵  will not see me; again after a little while, you ⁶  will see me’?

(Now none of those present at the table ¹  understood ²  why Jesus ³  said this to Judas. ⁴ 

Moses then said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke: ‘Among the ones close to me I will show myself holy, ¹  and in the presence of all the people I will be honored.’” ²  So Aaron kept silent.

Yet ¹  his parents ²  did not understand ³  the remark ⁴  he made ⁵  to them.

But Jesus ¹  was speaking about the temple of his body. ² 

I say this as a concession, not as a command.

But they did not understand this statement; its meaning ¹  had been concealed ²  from them, so that they could not grasp it. Yet ³  they were afraid to ask him about this statement.

Faithful ¹  are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses ²  of an enemy are excessive. ³ 

But Peter ¹  said to him, “Explain this parable to us.”

and if ¹  I ask you, you will not ²  answer.

you must do to him what he had intended to do to the accused. In this way you will purge ¹  evil from among you.

The leaders of Gibeah attacked me and at night surrounded the house where I was staying. ¹  They wanted to kill me; instead they abused my concubine so badly that she died.
