He wrote ¹  a letter that went like this: ² 

They contacted ¹  me four times in this way, and I responded the same way each time. ² 

They ¹  have testified to your love before the church. ²  You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. ³ 

He then presented the burnt offering, and did it according to the standard regulation. ¹ 

And do everything in a decent and orderly manner.

On the seventh day they were up at the crack of dawn ¹  and marched around the city as before – only this time they marched around it seven times. ² 

“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Will you defile yourselves like your fathers ¹  and engage in prostitution with detestable idols?

For this reason, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

Now all the Jews know the way I lived ¹  from my youth, spending my life from the beginning among my own people ²  and in Jerusalem. ³ 

Go to the king and speak to him in the following fashion.” Then Joab told her what to say. ¹ 

“I, the Lord, say: ¹  ‘This shows how ²  I will ruin the highly exalted position ³  in which Judah and Jerusalem ⁴  take pride.

and then the third married her, and in this same way all seven died, leaving no children.

Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” ¹ 

When Saul’s servants reported what David had said,

But they ¹  pay no attention; instead they observe their earlier practices.

They lost their appetite for all food, ¹  and they drew near the gates of death.

But Jesus ¹  turned and rebuked them, ² 

Later the older daughter said ¹  to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man anywhere nearby ²  to have sexual relations with us, ³  according to the way of all the world.

The Lord said, ‘Who will deceive Ahab, so he will attack Ramoth Gilead and die ¹  there?’ One said this and another that.

The Lord said, ‘Who will deceive King Ahab of Israel, so he will attack Ramoth Gilead and die there?’ One said this and another that.
