not in lustful passion like the Gentiles who do not know God.

In the wilderness they had an insatiable craving ¹  for meat; ²  they challenged God ³  in the desert.

because all that is in the world (the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the arrogance produced by material possessions) ¹  is not from the Father, but is from the world.

Do not lust ¹  in your heart for her beauty, and do not let her captivate you with her alluring eyes; ² 

Therefore I handed her over to her lovers, the Assyrians ¹  for whom she lusted.

When she saw them, ¹  she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea. ² 

She lusted after their genitals – as large as those of donkeys, ¹  and their seminal emission was as strong as that of stallions.

She lusted after the Assyrians – governors and officials, warriors in full armor, horsemen riding on horses, all of them desirable young men.

especially those who indulge their fleshly desires ¹  and who despise authority. Brazen and insolent, ²  they are not afraid to insult ³  the glorious ones, ⁴ 

But each one is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires.

And the world is passing away with all its desires, but the person who does the will of God remains ¹  forever.

“Her sister Oholibah watched this, ¹  but she became more corrupt in her lust than her sister had been, and her acts of prostitution were more numerous than those of her sister.

Therefore God gave them over ¹  in the desires of their hearts to impurity, to dishonor ²  their bodies among themselves. ³ 

You were taught with reference to your former way of life to lay aside ¹  the old man who is being corrupted in accordance with deceitful desires,

you who practice ritual sex ¹  under the oaks and every green tree, who slaughter children near the streams under the rocky overhangs. ² 

You engaged in prostitution with the Egyptians, your sexually aroused neighbors, ¹  multiplying your promiscuity and provoking me to anger.
