They ¹  laid hands on ²  the apostles and put them in a public jail.

So ¹  they seized ²  them and put them in jail ³  until the next day (for it was already evening).

But the officers ¹  who came for them ²  did not find them in the prison, so they returned and reported, ³ 

in beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, ¹  in troubles, ²  in sleepless nights, in hunger,

Joseph’s master took him and threw him into the prison, ¹  the place where the king’s prisoners were confined. So he was there in the prison. ² 

“We found the jail locked securely and the guards standing at the doors, but when we opened them, ¹  we found no one inside.”

But someone came and reported to them, “Look! The men you put in prison are standing in the temple courts ¹  and teaching ²  the people!”

so he imprisoned them in the house of the captain of the guard in the same facility where Joseph was confined.

But during the night an angel of the Lord ¹  opened ²  the doors of the prison, ³  led them out, ⁴  and said,

and came ¹  and apologized to them. After ²  they brought them out, they asked them repeatedly ³  to leave the city.

for which I suffer hardship to the point of imprisonment ¹  as a criminal, but God’s message ²  is not imprisoned! ³ 

They bind ¹  their kings in chains, and their nobles in iron shackles,

(For John had not yet been thrown into prison.) ¹ 

He imprisoned ¹  them all for three days.

They will be imprisoned in a pit, ¹  locked up in a prison, and after staying there for a long time, ²  they will be punished. ³ 

The officials were very angry ¹  at Jeremiah. They had him flogged and put in prison in the house of Jonathan, the royal secretary, which they had converted into a place for confining prisoners. ² 

But he refused. Instead, he went out and threw him in prison until he repaid the debt.

But Saul was trying to destroy ¹  the church; entering one house after another, he dragged off ²  both men and women and put them in prison. ³ 

When they heard this, they entered the temple courts ¹  at daybreak and began teaching. ²  Now when the high priest and those who were with him arrived, they summoned the Sanhedrin ³  – that is, the whole high council ⁴  of the Israelites ⁵  – and sent to the jail to have the apostles ⁶  brought before them. ⁷ 

If he comes by ¹  and confines ²  you ³  and convenes a court, ⁴  then who can prevent ⁵  him?
