Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” ¹  and call understanding a close relative,

All my closest friends ¹  detest me; and those whom ²  I love have turned against me. ³ 

Now therefore kill every boy, ¹  and kill every woman who has had sexual intercourse with a man. ² 

But all the young women ¹  who have not had sexual intercourse with a man ²  will be yours. ³ 

and 32,000 young women who had never had sexual intercourse with a man. ¹ 

just as I was in my most productive time, ¹  when God’s intimate friendship ²  was experienced in my tent,

for one who goes astray ¹  is an abomination ²  to the Lord, but he reveals ³  his intimate counsel ⁴  to the upright.

A perverse person ¹  spreads dissension, and a gossip separates the closest friends. ² 

My kinsmen have failed me; my friends ¹  have forgotten me. ² 

You carefully observe me when I travel or when I lie down to rest; ¹  you are aware of everything I do. ² 

The one who forgives ¹  an offense seeks ²  love, but whoever repeats a matter separates close friends. ³ 

But if I build up again those things I once destroyed, ¹  I demonstrate that I am one who breaks God’s law. ² 

So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are ¹  a son, then you are also an heir through God. ² 

The one who says he resides ¹  in God ²  ought himself to walk ³  just as Jesus ⁴  walked.

If anyone ¹  confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God resides ²  in him and he in God.

They shouted to Lot, ¹  “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so we can have sex ²  with them!”

I will meet with you there, ¹  and ²  from above the atonement lid, from between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you about all that I will command you for the Israelites.

With him I will speak face to face, ¹  openly, ²  and not in riddles; and he will see the form ³  of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

In fact, what other great nation has a god so near to them like the Lord our God whenever we call on him?

Do this: ¹  exterminate every male, as well as every woman who has had sexual relations with a male. ²  But spare the lives of any virgins.” So they did as instructed. ³
