King Ahasuerus then imposed forced labor on the land and on the coastlands of the sea.

If a ransom is set for him, ¹  then he must pay the redemption for his life according to whatever amount was set for him.

They served only for matters of food and drink ¹  and various washings; they are external regulations ²  imposed until the new order came. ³ 

Furthermore, be aware of the fact ¹  that you have no authority to impose tax, tribute, or toll on any of the priests, the Levites, the musicians, the doorkeepers, the temple servants, or the attendants at the temple of this God.

The rules you impose are just, ¹  and absolutely reliable.

An edict was sent throughout Judah and Jerusalem requiring the people to bring to the Lord the tax that Moses, God’s servant, imposed on Israel in the wilderness. ¹ 

They will sing this lament over you: ¹  “‘How you have perished – you have vanished ²  from the seas, O renowned city, once mighty in the sea, she and her inhabitants, who spread their terror! ³ 

י (Yod) Let a person ¹  sit alone in silence, when the Lord ²  is disciplining him. ³ 

And if a peace-loving person ¹  is there, your peace will remain on him, but if not, it will return to you. ² 

For it seemed best to the Holy Spirit and to us ¹  not to place any greater burden on you than these necessary rules: ²
