“‘If a man beats any person to death, ¹  he must be put to death.

(The cherubim appeared to have the form ¹  of human hands under their wings.)

Surely ¹  I am more brutish ²  than any other human being, ³  and I do not have human understanding; ⁴ 

For though we live ¹  as human beings, ²  we do not wage war according to human standards, ³ 

but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, ¹  by looking like other men, ²  and by sharing in human nature. ³ 

In the fire ¹  were what looked like ²  four living beings. ³  In their appearance they had human form, ⁴ 

They had human hands ¹  under their wings on their four sides. As for the faces and wings of the four of them,

Am I saying these things only on the basis of common sense, ¹  or does the law not say this as well?

Now ¹  I want you to know, brothers and sisters, ²  that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. ³ 

These are all destined to perish with use, founded as they are ¹  on human commands and teachings. ² 

John’s baptism ¹  – was it from heaven or from people?” ² 

And you must eat the food like you would a barley cake. You must bake it in front of them over a fire made with dried human excrement.” ¹ 

So he said to me, “All right then, I will substitute cow’s manure instead of human excrement. You will cook your food over it.”

“I do not accept ¹  praise ²  from people, ³ 

nor is he served by human hands, as if he needed anything, ¹  because he himself gives life and breath and everything to everyone. ² 

For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, ¹  and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. ² 

revealing ¹  that you are a letter of Christ, delivered by us, ²  written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on stone tablets ³  but on tablets of human hearts.

The human spirit ¹  is like ²  the lamp ³  of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts. ⁴

So then, ¹  it does not depend on human desire or exertion, ²  but on God who shows mercy.
