When Hezekiah asked the priests and Levites about the heaps,

The Egyptians ¹  piled them in countless heaps, ²  and the land stank.

“This pile of stones and the pillar are reminders that I will not pass beyond this pile to come to harm you and that you will not pass beyond this pile and this pillar to come to harm me. ¹ 

Samson then said, “With the jawbone of a donkey I have left them in heaps; ¹  with the jawbone of a donkey I have struck down a thousand men!”

I will increase their ¹  disasters, I will use up my arrows on them.

Then he ¹  said to his relatives, “Gather stones.” So they brought stones and put them in a pile. ²  They ate there by the pile of stones.

for you will heap coals of fire on his head, ¹  and the Lord will reward you. ² 

Babylon will become a heap of ruins. Jackals will make their home there. ¹  It will become an object of horror and of hissing scorn, a place where no one lives. ² 

“Here is this pile of stones and this pillar I have set up between me and you,” Laban said to Jacob. ¹

When Hezekiah and the officials came and saw the heaps, they praised the Lord and pronounced blessings on his people Israel. ¹ 

Here is a message about Damascus: “Look, Damascus is no longer a city, it is a heap of ruins!

Laban said, “This pile of stones is a witness of our agreement ¹  today.” That is why it was called Galeed.

He divided the sea and led them across it; he made the water stand in a heap.

“I will turn Samaria ¹  into a heap of ruins in an open field – vineyards will be planted there! ²  I will tumble ³  the rubble of her stone walls ⁴  down into the valley, and tear down her fortifications to their foundations. ⁵ 

If he piles up silver like dust and stores up clothing like mounds of clay,

He raises the poor from the dirt, and lifts up the needy from the garbage pile, ¹ 

The Israelites and people of Judah ¹  who lived in the cities of Judah also contributed a tenth of their cattle and sheep, as well as a tenth of the holy items consecrated to the Lord their God. They brought them and placed them in many heaps. ² 

Indeed, ¹  you have made the city ²  into a heap of rubble, the fortified town into a heap of ruins; the fortress of foreigners ³  is no longer a city, it will never be rebuilt.
