They will summon a mob who will stone you and hack you in pieces with their swords.

Samuel said, “Just as your sword left women childless, so your mother will be the most bereaved among women!” Then Samuel hacked Agag to pieces there in Gilgal before the Lord.

They invade like lumberjacks swinging their axes in a thick forest. ¹ 

For he shattered the bronze gates, and hacked through the iron bars. ¹ 

“I said, ‘I want to cut them in pieces. ¹  I want to make people forget they ever existed.

In those days the Lord began to reduce the size of Israel’s territory. ¹  Hazael attacked their eastern border. ² 

“I will go before you and level mountains. ¹  Bronze doors I will shatter and iron bars ²  I will hack through.

I will send men against it to destroy it ¹  with their axes and hatchets. They will hack up its fine cedar panels and columns and throw them into the fire.

That army will pelt them with stones and slash them with their swords; they will kill their sons and daughters and burn their houses. ¹ 

For before the harvest, when the bud has sprouted, and the ripening fruit appears, ¹  he will cut off the unproductive shoots ²  with pruning knives; he will prune the tendrils. ³
