He opened up a rock and water flowed out; a river ran through dry regions.

Yes, ¹  he struck a rock and water flowed out, streams gushed forth. But can he also give us food? Will he provide meat for his people?”

They do not thirst as he leads them through dry regions; he makes water flow out of a rock for them; he splits open a rock and water flows out.’ ¹ 

So they yelled louder and, in accordance with their prescribed ritual, ¹  mutilated themselves with swords and spears until their bodies were covered with blood. ² 

He turns springs into streams; ¹  they flow between the mountains.

(Now this man Judas ¹  acquired a field with the reward of his unjust deed, ²  and falling headfirst ³  he burst open in the middle and all his intestines ⁴  gushed out.

The fountains of the deep and the floodgates of heaven were closed, ¹  and the rain stopped falling from the sky.

I said, “Indeed, ¹  let them come quickly and sing a song of mourning for us. Let them wail loudly until tears stream from our own eyes and our eyelids overflow with water.

Then Moses raised his hand, and struck the rock twice with his staff. And water came out abundantly. So the community drank, and their beasts drank too.

The words of a person’s mouth are like ¹  deep waters, ²  and ³  the fountain of wisdom ⁴  is like ⁵  a flowing brook. ⁶ 

Then the lame will leap like a deer, the mute tongue will shout for joy; for water will flow ¹  in the desert, streams in the wilderness. ² 

But whoever drinks some of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again, ¹  but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain ²  of water springing up ³  to eternal life.”

When Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and discovered a well with fresh flowing ¹  water there,

The mountains trembled ¹  before the Lord, the God of Sinai; ²  before the Lord God of Israel.

My brothers ¹  have been as treacherous ²  as a seasonal stream, ³  and as the riverbeds of the intermittent streams ⁴  that flow away. ⁵ 

“Who shut up ¹  the sea with doors when it burst forth, ²  coming out of the womb,

You broke open the spring and the stream; ¹  you dried up perpetually flowing rivers. ² 

He broke open rocks in the wilderness, and gave them enough water to fill the depths of the sea. ¹ 

Tears stream down from my eyes, ¹  because people ²  do not keep your law.

The tongue of the wise ¹  treats knowledge correctly, ²  but the mouth of the fool spouts out ³  folly.
