When ¹  the disciples saw him walking on the water ²  they were terrified and said, “It’s a ghost!” and cried out with fear.

When they saw him walking on the water ¹  they thought he was a ghost. They ²  cried out,

But they were startled and terrified, thinking ¹  they saw a ghost. ² 

Look at my hands and my feet; it’s me! ¹  Touch me and see; a ghost ²  does not have flesh and bones like you see I have.”

You will fall; while lying on the ground ¹  you will speak; from the dust where you lie, your words will be heard. ²  Your voice will sound like a spirit speaking from the underworld; ³  from the dust you will chirp as if muttering an incantation. ⁴ 

“Why did I not ²  die ³  at birth, ⁴  and why did I not expire as ⁵  I came out of the womb?

But the eyes of the wicked fail, ¹  and escape ²  eludes them; their one hope ³  is to breathe their last.” ⁴ 

Your chosen ¹  cities have become a desert; Zion has become a desert, Jerusalem ²  is a desolate ruin.

And the disciples were filled with joy ¹  and with the Holy Spirit.

For ¹  there are three that testify, ² 

The Egyptians will panic, ¹  and I will confuse their strategy. ²  They will seek guidance from the idols and from the spirits of the dead, from the pits used to conjure up underworld spirits, and from the magicians. ³ 

one who casts spells, ¹  one who conjures up spirits, ²  a practitioner of the occult, ³  or a necromancer. ⁴ 

then you scare me ¹  with dreams and terrify ²  me with ³  visions,

So he caused them to die unsatisfied ¹  and filled with terror. ² 

A city is exalted by the blessing provided from ¹  the upright, but it is destroyed by the counsel ²  of the wicked. ³ 

The one who wanders ¹  from the way of wisdom ²  will end up ³  in the company of the departed. ⁴ 

Look, your house is left to you desolate!

But Jesus cried out with a loud voice and breathed his last.

Then ¹  his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, ² 

These two ¹  went down and prayed for them so that they would receive the Holy Spirit.
