Laban called it Jegar Sahadutha, ¹  but Jacob called it Galeed. ² 

Laban said, “This pile of stones is a witness of our agreement ¹  today.” That is why it was called Galeed.

Though these people make an uproar as loud as the roaring of powerful waves, ¹  when he shouts at ²  them, they will flee to a distant land, driven before the wind like dead weeds on the hills, or like dead thistles ³  before a strong gale.

How often ¹  are they like straw before the wind, and like chaff swept away ²  by a whirlwind?

I will hurry off to a place that is safe from the strong wind ¹  and the gale.”

By now a strong wind was blowing and the sea was getting rough.

and the stars in the sky ¹  fell to the earth like a fig tree dropping ²  its unripe figs ³  when shaken by a fierce ⁴  wind.

chase them with your gale winds, and terrify ¹  them with your windstorm.

No, ¹  a wind too strong for that will come at my bidding. Yes, even now I, myself, am calling down judgment on them.’ ² 

Now ¹  a great windstorm ²  developed and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was nearly swamped.

Not long after this, a hurricane-force ¹  wind called the northeaster ²  blew down from the island. ³ 

When the ship was caught in it ¹  and could not head into ²  the wind, we gave way to it and were driven ³  along.

The next day, because we were violently battered by the storm, ¹  they began throwing the cargo overboard, ² 

Judgment will come from the Lord who commands armies, ¹  accompanied by thunder, earthquake, and a loud noise, by a strong gale, a windstorm, and a consuming flame of fire.

You will winnow them and the wind will blow them away; the wind will scatter them. You will rejoice in the Lord; you will boast in the Holy One of Israel.

Your rowers have brought you into surging waters. The east wind has wrecked you in the heart of the seas.

So I will set fire to Rabbah’s ¹  city wall; ²  fire ³  will consume her fortresses. War cries will be heard on the day of battle; ⁴  a strong gale will blow on the day of the windstorm. ⁵ 

and as they sailed he fell asleep. Now a violent windstorm ¹  came down on the lake, ²  and the boat ³  started filling up with water, and they were in danger.

Suddenly ¹  a sound ²  like a violent wind blowing ³  came from heaven ⁴  and filled the entire house where they were sitting.
