When they were all satisfied, Jesus ¹  said to his disciples, “Gather up the broken pieces that are left over, so that nothing is wasted.”

So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves ¹  left over by the people who had eaten.

Indeed, look! The Lord is giving the command. ¹  He will smash the large house to bits, and the small house into little pieces.

and they picked up the broken pieces and fish that were left over, twelve baskets full.

It shatters in pieces like a clay jar, so shattered to bits that none of it can be salvaged. ¹  Among its fragments one cannot find a shard large enough ²  to scoop a hot coal from a fire ³  or to skim off water from a cistern.” ⁴ 

They all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the broken pieces left over, twelve baskets full.

When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied, “Twelve.”

“When I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied, ¹  “Seven.”

They all ate and were satisfied, and what was left over ¹  was picked up – twelve baskets of broken pieces.

I will lift my hands to ¹  your commands, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes.

He throws his hailstones ¹  like crumbs. Who can withstand the cold wind he sends? ² 

Everyone ¹  ate and was satisfied, and they picked up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full.

The roof of my mouth ¹  is as dry as a piece of pottery; my tongue sticks to my gums. ²  You ³  set me in the dust of death. ⁴ 

You will drain it dry, ¹  gnaw its pieces, ²  and tear out your breasts, ³  for I have spoken, declares the sovereign Lord.

They ¹  all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full.

Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all share the one bread.

The king tore down the altars the kings of Judah had set up on the roof of Ahaz’s upper room, as well as the altars Manasseh had set up in the two courtyards of the Lord’s temple. He crushed them up ¹  and threw the dust in the Kidron Valley.

You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. You have put to death people ¹  who should not die and kept alive those who should not live by your lies to my people, who listen to lies!
