He said: “The Lord is my high ridge, ¹  my stronghold, ²  my deliverer.

Jehoshaphat’s power kept increasing. He built fortresses and storage cities throughout Judah.

I say this about the Lord, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust –

Be my protector and refuge, ¹  a stronghold where I can be safe! ²  For you are my high ridge ³  and my stronghold.

He flashes ¹  destruction down upon the strong so that destruction overwhelms ²  the fortified places.)

But David captured the fortress of Zion (that is, the city of David).

David lived in the fortress; for this reason it is called the City of David.

For you are my high ridge ¹  and my stronghold; for the sake of your own reputation ²  you lead me and guide me. ³

He built cities in the hill country of Judah and fortresses and towers in the forests.

The Lord who commands armies is on our side! ¹  The God of Jacob ²  is our protector! ³  (Selah)
