The grass dries up, the flowers wither, when the wind sent by the Lord ¹  blows on them. Surely humanity ²  is like grass.

Foreigners lose their courage; ¹  they shake with fear ²  as they leave ³  their strongholds. ⁴

The earth ¹  dries up ²  and withers, the world shrivels up and withers; the prominent people of the earth ³  fade away.

For you will be like a tree whose leaves wither, like an orchard ¹  that is unwatered.
