So indeed it was credited to Abraham ¹  as righteousness.

But the statement it was credited to him ¹  was not written only for Abraham’s ²  sake,

“If ¹  you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners ²  love those who love them. ³ 

And if you lend to those from whom you hope to be repaid, ¹  what credit is that to you? Even sinners ²  lend to sinners, so that they may be repaid in full. ³ 

I do not say this because I am seeking a gift. ¹  Rather, I seek the credit that abounds to your account.

And ¹  if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ²  sinners ³  do the same.

This brought him a reward, an eternal gift. ¹ 

For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited ¹  to him as righteousness.” ² 

Now to the one who works, his pay is not credited due to grace but due to obligation. ¹ 

So even David himself speaks regarding the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:

How then was it credited to him? Was he circumcised at the time, or not? No, he was not circumcised but uncircumcised!

But you do have this going for you: ¹  You hate what the Nicolaitans ²  practice ³  – practices I also hate.

For what credit is it if you sin and are mistreated and endure it? But if you do good and suffer and so endure, this finds favor with God. ¹ 

And your raised offering will be credited ¹  to you as though it were grain from the threshing floor or as new wine ²  from the winepress.

When Mordecai learned of the conspiracy, ¹  he informed Queen Esther, ²  and Esther told the king in Mordecai’s behalf. ³ 

Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, ¹ 

For they loved praise ¹  from men more than praise ²  from God.

But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, ¹  his faith is credited as righteousness.

Is this blessedness ¹  then for ²  the circumcision ³  or also for ⁴  the uncircumcision? For we say, “faith was credited to Abraham as righteousness.” ⁵ 

but also for our sake, to whom it will be credited, those who believe in the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
