Then the disciples came ¹  to Jesus privately and said, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

I ¹  begged ²  your disciples to cast it out, but ³  they could not do so.” ⁴ 

but when they went in, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. ¹ 

For this reason they could not believe, ¹  because again Isaiah said,

Then, ¹  after he went into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

All the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink, ¹  because they could not drink the water of the Nile.

ח (Khet) The Lord’s loyal kindness ¹  never ceases; ²  his compassions ³  never end.

He came again and found them sleeping; they could not keep their eyes open. ¹ 

He lived among the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain.

Now Jesus’ ¹  mother and his brothers ²  came to him, but ³  they could not get near him because of the crowd.

Yet even on this point their testimony did not agree.

So he returned to Judah and said, “I couldn’t find her. Moreover, the men of the place said, ‘There has been no cult prostitute here.’”

when I prescribed ¹  its limits, and set ²  in place its bolts and doors,

They lost their appetite for all food, ¹  and they drew near the gates of death.

I brought him to your disciples, but ¹  they were not able to heal him.”

When ¹  they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem ²  to look for him.

They will say, ¹  ‘This man ²  began to build and was not able to finish!’ ³ 

They ¹  were delighted ²  and arranged to give him money. ³ 

And the light shines on ¹  in the darkness, ²  but ³  the darkness has not mastered it. ⁴ 

If this man ¹  were not from God, he could do nothing.”
