For the law brings wrath, because where there is no law there is no transgression ¹  either.

“When someone has a diseased infection, ¹  he must be brought to the priest.

For this is what the sovereign master ¹  has told me: “Within exactly one year ²  all the splendor of Kedar will come to an end.

That day Joshua drew up an agreement ¹  for the people, and he established rules and regulations ²  for them in Shechem.

But the gate is narrow and the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Before she goes into labor, she gives birth! Before her contractions begin, she delivers a boy!

There were two copies of the deed of purchase. One was sealed and contained the order of transfer and the conditions of purchase. ¹  The other was left unsealed.

For if they become heirs by the law, faith is empty and the promise is nullified. ¹ 

Now an intermediary is not for one party alone, but God is one. ¹ 

You believe that God is one; well and good. ¹  Even the demons believe that – and tremble with fear. ² 

If she does not please ¹  her master, who has designated her ²  for himself, then he must let her be redeemed. ³  He has no right ⁴  to sell her to a foreign nation, because he has dealt deceitfully ⁵  with her.

Now the Lord makes this announcement: “Within exactly three years ¹  Moab’s splendor will disappear, along with all her many people; there will be just a few, insignificant survivors left.” ² 

For this reason my stomach churns; ¹  cramps overwhelm me like the contractions of a woman in labor. I am disturbed ²  by what I hear, horrified by what I see.

Brothers and sisters, ¹  I offer an example from everyday life: ²  When a covenant ³  has been ratified, ⁴  even though it is only a human contract, no one can set it aside or add anything to it.

Solomon made an alliance by marriage with Pharaoh, king of Egypt; he married Pharaoh’s daughter. He brought her to the City of David ¹  until he could finish building his residence and the temple of the Lord and the wall around Jerusalem. ²
