He said to them, “Now what have I accomplished compared to you? Even Ephraim’s leftover grapes ¹  are better quality than Abiezer’s harvest! ² 

It was to you that God handed over the Midianite generals, Oreb and Zeeb! What did I accomplish to rival that?” ¹  When he said this, they calmed down. ² 

‘Who among you survivors saw the former splendor of this temple? ¹  How does it look to you now? Isn’t it nothing by comparison?

For our momentary, light suffering ¹  is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison

For I consider that our present sufferings cannot even be compared ¹  to the glory that will be revealed to us.

To whom can you compare God? To what image can you liken him?

“Son of man, offer a riddle, ¹  and tell a parable to the house of Israel.

Now when ¹  Jesus finished these parables, he moved on from there.

Jesus spoke ¹  to them again in parables, saying:

“To what then should I compare the people ¹  of this generation, and what are they like?

just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” ¹ 

how much less a mortal man, who is but a maggot ¹  – a son of man, who is only a worm!”

For who in the skies can compare to the Lord? Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings, ¹ 

She is more precious than rubies, and none of the things ¹  you desire ²  can compare ³  with her. ⁴ 

For wisdom is better than rubies, and desirable things cannot be compared ¹  to her.

The Lover to His Beloved: O my beloved, you are like ¹  a ²  mare ³  among Pharaoh’s stallions. ⁴ 

The Beloved to the Maidens: My beloved ¹  is dazzling ²  and ruddy; ³  he stands out ⁴  in comparison to ⁵  all other men. ⁶ 

To whom can you compare and liken me? Tell me whom you think I resemble, so we can be compared!

I spoke to the prophets; I myself revealed many visions; ¹  I spoke in parables ²  through ³  the prophets.”

and rejected Esau. ¹  I turned Esau’s ²  mountains into a deserted wasteland ³  and gave his territory ⁴  to the wild jackals.”
