As ¹  they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, ²  “Why are you untying that colt?”

They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks ¹  on them, and he sat on them.

So ¹  they went and found a colt tied at a door, outside in the street, and untied it.

Some people standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”

Then ¹  they brought the colt to Jesus, threw their cloaks ²  on it, and he sat on it. ³ 

Then ¹  they brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks ²  on the colt, ³  and had Jesus get on ⁴  it.

“Do not be afraid, people of Zion; ¹  look, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt!” ² 

“Tell the people of Zion, ¹  ‘Look, your king is coming to you, unassuming and seated on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’” ² 

But an empty man will become wise, when a wild donkey’s colt is born a human being. ¹
