He chose David, his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds.

He chose the tribe of Judah, and Mount Zion, which he loves.

but Paul chose Silas and set out, commended ¹  to the grace of the Lord by the brothers and sisters. ² 

the sons of God ¹  saw that the daughters of humankind were beautiful. Thus they took wives for themselves from any they chose.
