So the Lord sent poisonous ¹  snakes ²  among the people, and they bit the people; many people of Israel died.

And if we put bits into the mouths of horses to get them to obey us, then we guide their entire bodies. ¹ 

Do not be ¹  like an unintelligent horse or mule, ²  which will not obey you unless they are controlled by a bridle and bit. ³ 

Indeed, look! The Lord is giving the command. ¹  He will smash the large house to bits, and the small house into little pieces.

That idol was made by a workman – it is not God! The calf idol of Samaria will be broken to bits.

Crumble it in pieces ¹  and pour olive oil on it – it is a grain offering.

It shatters in pieces like a clay jar, so shattered to bits that none of it can be salvaged. ¹  Among its fragments one cannot find a shard large enough ²  to scoop a hot coal from a fire ³  or to skim off water from a cistern.” ⁴ 

So ¹  they gave him a piece of broiled fish,

So Moses made a bronze snake and put it on a pole, so that if a snake had bitten someone, when he looked at the bronze snake he lived. ¹
