The magicians did the same ¹  with their secret arts and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt too. ² 

Then Pharaoh also summoned wise men and sorcerers, ¹  and the magicians ²  of Egypt by their secret arts ³  did the same thing.

But the magicians of Egypt did the same ¹  by their secret arts, and so ²  Pharaoh’s heart remained hard, ³  and he refused to listen to Moses and Aaron ⁴  – just as the Lord had predicted.

When ¹  the magicians attempted ²  to bring forth gnats by their secret arts, they could not. So there were gnats on people and on animals.

and make it into an incense, ¹  a perfume, ²  the work of a perfumer. It is to be finely ground, ³  and pure and sacred.

So since we are God’s offspring, we should not think the deity ¹  is like gold or silver or stone, an image ²  made by human ³  skill ⁴  and imagination. ⁵ 

You are to make this ¹  into ²  a sacred anointing oil, a perfumed compound, ³  the work of a perfumer. It will be sacred anointing oil.

He made the sacred anointing oil and the pure fragrant incense, the work of a perfumer.

He was buried in the tomb he had carved out in the City of David. ¹  They laid him to rest on a bier covered with spices and assorted mixtures of ointments. They made a huge bonfire to honor him. ² 

As for teqel – you are weighed on the balances and found to be lacking.

If I cry ¹  to corruption, ²  ‘You are my father,’ and to the worm, ‘My Mother,’ or ‘My sister,’

For you give me confidence, ¹  O Lord; O Lord, I have trusted in you since I was young. ² 

You are awesome! Yes, you! Who can withstand your intense anger? ¹ 

For you are great and do amazing things. You alone are God.

For you, O Lord, are the sovereign king ¹  over the whole earth; you are elevated high above all gods.

You are my ¹  God and I will give you thanks! You are my God and I will praise you!

If I were to ascend ¹  to heaven, you would be there. If I were to sprawl out in Sheol, there you would be. ² 

if ¹  you have been ensnared ²  by the words you have uttered, ³  and have been caught by the words you have spoken,

Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king ¹  of Israel!” ² 

And they paid close attention to him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic.
