They caused Isaac and Rebekah great anxiety. ¹ 

Then Rebekah and her female servants mounted the camels and rode away with ¹  the man. So Abraham’s servant ²  took Rebekah and left.

So they sent their sister Rebekah on her way, accompanied by her female attendant, with Abraham’s servant and his men.

(Now ¹  Bethuel became the father of Rebekah.) These were the eight sons Milcah bore to Abraham’s brother Nahor.

(Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban.) ¹  Laban rushed out to meet the man at the spring.

So they called Rebekah and asked her, “Do you want ¹  to go with this man?” She replied, “I want to go.”

Rebekah looked up ¹  and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel

Isaac loved Esau because he had a taste for fresh game, ¹  but Rebekah loved ²  Jacob.

There they buried Abraham and his wife Sarah; there they buried Isaac and his wife Rebekah; and there I buried Leah.

(Deborah, ¹  Rebekah’s nurse, died and was buried under the oak below Bethel; thus it was named ²  Oak of Weeping.) ³ 

When Jacob explained ¹  to Rachel that he was a relative of her father ²  and the son of Rebekah, she ran and told her father.

Now Rebekah had been listening while Isaac spoke to his son Esau. ¹  When Esau went out to the open fields to hunt down some wild game and bring it back, ² 

Rebekah stands here before you. Take her and go so that she may become ¹  the wife of your master’s son, just as the Lord has decided.” ² 

Then he ¹  brought out gold, silver jewelry, and clothing and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave valuable gifts to her brother and to her mother.

When Isaac was forty years old, he married Rebekah, ¹  the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram and sister of Laban the Aramean. ² 

Isaac prayed to ¹  the Lord on behalf of his wife because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.

After Isaac ¹  had been there a long time, ²  Abimelech king of the Philistines happened to look out a window and observed ³  Isaac caressing ⁴  his wife Rebekah.

They blessed Rebekah with these words: ¹  “Our sister, may you become the mother ²  of thousands of ten thousands! May your descendants possess the strongholds ³  of their enemies.”

Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “Look, I overheard your father tell your brother Esau,

Then Rebekah took her older son Esau’s best clothes, which she had with her in the house, and put them on her younger son Jacob.
