But Jacob took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond, and plane trees. He made white streaks by peeling them, making the white inner wood in the branches visible.

They will sprout up like a tree in the grass, ¹  like poplars beside channels of water.

They sacrifice on the mountaintops, and burn offerings on the hills; they sacrifice ¹  under oak, poplar, and terebinth, because their shade is so pleasant. As a result, your daughters have become cult prostitutes, and your daughters-in-law commit adultery!

The lotus trees conceal it in their ¹  shadow; the poplars by the stream conceal it.

On the poplars in her midst we hang our harps,
