Others said, “This is the Christ!” ¹  But still others said, “No, ²  for the Christ doesn’t come from Galilee, does he? ³ 

He first ¹  found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” ²  (which is translated Christ). ³ 

The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (the one called Christ); ¹  “whenever he ²  comes, he will tell ³  us everything.” ⁴ 

This is the record of the genealogy ¹  of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

saying, “Prophesy for us, you Christ! ¹  Who hit you?” ² 

“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Surely he can’t be the Messiah, ¹  can he?” ² 

so that times of refreshing ¹  may come from the presence of the Lord, ²  and so that he may send the Messiah ³  appointed ⁴  for you – that is, Jesus.

explaining and demonstrating ¹  that the Christ ²  had to suffer and to rise from the dead, ³  saying, ⁴  “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Christ.” ⁵ 

Simon Peter answered, ¹  “You are the Christ, ²  the Son of the living God.”

He confessed – he did not deny but confessed – “I am not the Christ!” ¹ 

and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, by whom ¹  Jesus was born, who is called Christ. ² 

For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ ¹  and they will mislead many.

Today ¹  your Savior is born in the city ²  of David. ³  He is Christ ⁴  the Lord.

But ¹  he said to them, “How is it that they say that the Christ ²  is David’s son? ³ 

Wasn’t ¹  it necessary ²  for the Christ ³  to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”

Philip went down to the main city of Samaria ¹  and began proclaiming ²  the Christ ³  to them.

for he refuted the Jews vigorously ¹  in public debate, ²  demonstrating from the scriptures that the Christ ³  was Jesus. ⁴ 

David by foreseeing this ¹  spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, ²  that he was neither abandoned to Hades, ³  nor did his body ⁴  experience ⁵  decay. ⁶ 

For false messiahs ¹  and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, the elect.

While the people were filled with anticipation ¹  and they all wondered ²  whether perhaps John ³  could be the Christ, ⁴
