This is the account of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.

Caleb’s concubine ¹  Ephah bore Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.

Meanwhile Jacob left Beer Sheba and set out for Haran.

The lifetime ¹  of Terah was 205 years, and he ²  died in Haran.

When Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Haran died in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans, ¹  while his father Terah was still alive. ² 

Now then, my son, do what I say. ¹  Run away immediately ²  to my brother Laban in Haran.

Jacob asked them, “My brothers, where are you from?” They replied, “We’re from Haran.”

The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran – three in all. These were the leaders of the family of Ladan.

Haran, Kanneh, Eden, merchants from Sheba, Asshur, and Kilmad were your clients.

Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran as fortified cities, and constructed pens for their flocks.

Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot (the son of Haran), and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and with them he set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. When they came to Haran, they settled there.

And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, ¹  and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milcah; ²  she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milcah and Iscah.

So Abram left, ¹  just as the Lord had told him to do, ²  and Lot went with him. (Now ³  Abram was 75 years old ⁴  when he departed from Haran.)

Were the nations whom my ancestors destroyed – the nations of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden in Telassar – rescued by their gods? ¹ 

Were the nations whom my predecessors ¹  destroyed – the nations of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the people of Eden in Telassar – rescued by their gods? ² 

So he replied, ¹  “Brothers and fathers, listen to me. The God of glory appeared to our forefather ²  Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he settled in Haran,

Then he went out from the country of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After his father died, God ¹  made him move ²  to this country where you now live.

And Abram took his wife Sarai, his nephew ¹  Lot, and all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired ²  in Haran, and they left for ³  the land of Canaan. They entered the land of Canaan.

Now the Lord said ¹  to Abram, ²  “Go out ³  from your country, your relatives, and your father’s household to the land that I will show you. ⁴
