Beware of the dogs, ¹  beware of the evil workers, beware of those who mutilate the flesh! ² 

How could you not understand that I was not speaking to you about bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees!”

And Jesus ¹  ordered them, ²  “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees ³  and the yeast of Herod!”

“Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves. ¹ 

Beware ¹  of people, because they will hand you over to councils ²  and flog ³  you in their synagogues. ⁴ 

“Watch out,” Jesus said to them, “beware of the yeast of the Pharisees ¹  and Sadducees.” ² 

Then they understood that he had not told them to be on guard against the yeast in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

“Beware ¹  of the experts in the law. ²  They ³  like walking around in long robes, and they love elaborate greetings ⁴  in the marketplaces and the best seats ⁵  in the synagogues ⁶  and the places of honor at banquets.

In his teaching Jesus ¹  also said, “Watch out for the experts in the law. ²  They like walking ³  around in long robes and elaborate greetings ⁴  in the marketplaces,

Watch out, ¹  then, that what is spoken about by ²  the prophets does not happen to you:

You be on guard against him ¹  too, because he vehemently opposed our words.

But the prophet sent this message to the king of Israel, “Make sure you don’t pass through this place because Syria is invading there.”

Everyone must be on his guard around his friends. He must not even trust any of his relatives. ¹  For every one of them will find some way to cheat him. ²  And all of his friends will tell lies about him.

Meanwhile, ¹  when many thousands of the crowd had gathered so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus ²  began to speak first to his disciples, “Be on your guard against ³  the yeast of the Pharisees, ⁴  which is hypocrisy. ⁵ 

Be sure you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments, ordinances, and statutes that I am giving you today.

Be careful that ¹  no one entices you with riches; do not let a large bribe ²  turn you aside.

“Be careful ¹  never to take my son back there!” Abraham told him. ² 

Then ¹  he said to them, “Watch out and guard yourself from ²  all types of greed, ³  because one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

Hezekiah is misleading you when he says, “The Lord will rescue us.” Has any of the gods of the nations rescued his land from the power of the king of Assyria? ¹ 

Be careful ¹  not to say, “My own ability and skill ²  have gotten me this wealth.”
