Amon his son, Josiah his son.

Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, ¹  Amon the father of Josiah,

the descendants of Shephatiah, the descendants of Hattil, the descendants of Pokereth-Hazzebaim, and the descendants of Amon.

Amon’s servants conspired against him and killed the king in his palace.

The rest of Amon’s accomplishments are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Judah. ¹ 

The Lord ¹  began to speak to him ²  in the thirteenth year that Josiah son of Amon ruled over Judah.

Then the king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the city official and Joash the king’s son.

Manasseh passed away ¹  and was buried in his palace garden, the garden of Uzzah, and his son Amon replaced him as king.

The people of the land executed all those who had conspired against King Amon, and they ¹  made his son Josiah king in his place.

Then the king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the city official and Joash the king’s son.

Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned for two years in Jerusalem. ¹ 

The people of the land executed all who had conspired against King Amon, and they ¹  made his son Josiah king in his place.

This is the prophetic message that the Lord gave to ¹  Zephaniah son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezekiah. Zephaniah delivered this message during the reign of ²  King Josiah son of Amon of Judah:

He did not humble himself before the Lord as his father Manasseh had done. ¹  Amon was guilty of great sin. ² 

Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned for two years in Jerusalem. ¹  His mother ²  was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz, from Jotbah.

The Lord God of Israel who rules over all ¹  says, “I will punish Amon, the god of Thebes. ²  I will punish Egypt, its gods, and its kings. I will punish Pharaoh and all who trust in him. ³ 

He did evil in the sight of ¹  the Lord, just like his father Manasseh had done. He offered sacrifices to all the idols his father Manasseh had made, and worshiped ²  them.

His servants conspired against him and killed him in his palace.

“For the last twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year that Josiah son of Amon was ruling in Judah ¹  until now, the Lord has been speaking to me. I told you over and over again ²  what he said. ³  But you would not listen.
