Terrify them, Lord! ¹  Let the nations know they are mere mortals! ²  (Selah)

For the sovereign Lord ¹  is awe-inspiring; ²  he is the great king who rules the whole earth! ³ 

May their eyes be blinded! ¹  Make them shake violently! ² 

They ¹  reached up to the sky, then dropped into the depths. The sailors’ strength ²  left them ³  because the danger was so great. ⁴ 

Rage takes hold of me because of the wicked, those who reject your law.

Therefore ¹  they will eat from the fruit ²  of their way, ³  and they will be stuffed full ⁴  of their own counsel.

The one who sows ¹  iniquity will reap trouble, and the rod of his fury ²  will end.

Wail, for the Lord’s day of judgment ¹  is near; it comes with all the destructive power of the sovereign judge. ² 

For they flee from the swords – from the drawn sword and from the battle-ready bow and from the severity of the battle.

Then the Lord said, “This means ¹  destruction will break out from the north on all who live in the land.

because they will lack bread and water. Each one will be terrified, and they will rot for their iniquity. ¹ 

You have followed the ways of your sister, so I will place her cup of judgment ¹  in your hand.

You will be overcome by ¹  drunkenness and sorrow. The cup of your sister Samaria is a cup of horror and desolation.

All the inhabitants of the coastlands are shocked at you, and their kings are horribly afraid – their faces are troubled.

You refuse to believe a day of disaster will come, ¹  but you establish a reign of violence. ² 

I see the tents of Cushan overwhelmed by trouble; ¹  the tent curtains of the land of Midian are shaking. ² 

He took Peter, James, ¹  and John with him, and became very troubled and distressed.

For ¹  Peter ²  and all who were with him were astonished ³  at the catch of fish that they had taken,

Great ¹  fear gripped ²  the whole church ³  and all who heard about these things.
