So now, in the sight of all Israel, the Lord’s assembly, and in the hearing of our God, I say this: ¹  Carefully observe ²  all the commands of the Lord your God, so that you may possess this good land and may leave it as a permanent inheritance for your children after you.

This Passover was observed in the eighteenth year of Josiah’s reign.

Esther’s command established these matters of Purim, and the matter was officially recorded. ¹ 

For he looks to the ends of the earth and observes everything under the heavens.

Does he not see my ways and count all my steps?

if I looked at the sun ¹  when it was shining, and the moon advancing as a precious thing,

From there it spots ¹  its prey, ²  its eyes gaze intently from a distance.

From the place where he lives he looks carefully at all the earth’s inhabitants.

For I envied those who are proud, as I observed ¹  the prosperity ²  of the wicked.

Certainly you will see it with your very own eyes – you will see the wicked paid back. ¹ 

They witnessed the acts of the Lord, his amazing feats on the deep water.

If only I were predisposed ¹  to keep your statutes!

I will keep your statutes. Do not completely abandon me! ¹ 

When the wicked increase, ¹  transgression increases, but the righteous will see ²  their downfall.

When they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the design of the temple, its pattern, its exits and entrances, and its whole design – all its statutes, its entire design, and all its laws; write it all down in their sight, so that they may observe its entire design and all its statutes and do them.

Those who worship ¹  worthless idols ²  forfeit the mercy that could be theirs. ³ 

yet we know ¹  that no one ²  is justified by the works of the law ³  but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. ⁴  And ⁵  we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by the faithfulness of Christ ⁶  and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one ⁷  will be justified.

Then he said, ‘Observe ¹  that all the male goats mating with ²  the flock are streaked, speckled, or spotted, for I have observed all that Laban has done to you.

¹  “When you assist ²  the Hebrew women in childbirth, observe at the delivery: ³  If it is a son, kill him, ⁴  but if it is a daughter, she may live.” ⁵ 

This day will become ¹  a memorial ²  for you, and you will celebrate it as a festival ³  to the Lord – you will celebrate it perpetually as a lasting ordinance. ⁴
