Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” ¹  and call understanding a close relative,

For wisdom is better than rubies, and desirable things cannot be compared ¹  to her.

The beginning ¹  of wisdom is to fear the Lord, ²  and acknowledging ³  the Holy One ⁴  is understanding.

Wisdom is found in the words ¹  of the discerning person, ²  but the one who lacks wisdom ³  will be disciplined. ⁴ 

Carrying out a wicked scheme ¹  is enjoyable ²  to a fool, and so is wisdom for the one who has discernment. ³ 

The speech ¹  of the righteous bears the fruit of wisdom, ²  but the one who speaks perversion ³  will be destroyed. ⁴ 

The fear of the Lord provides wise instruction, ¹  and before honor comes humility. ² 

How much better it is to acquire ¹  wisdom than gold; to acquire understanding is more desirable ²  than silver.

Of what ¹  use is money in the hand of a fool, ²  since he has no intention ³  of acquiring wisdom? ⁴ 

Wisdom is directly in front of ¹  the discerning person, but the eyes of a fool run ²  to the ends of the earth. ³ 

Like apples of gold in settings of silver, ¹  so is a word skillfully spoken. ² 

The one who trusts in his own heart ¹  is a fool, but the one who walks in wisdom ²  will escape. ³ 

She opens her mouth ¹  with wisdom, and loving instruction ²  is on her tongue.

And they paid close attention to him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic.

to equip ¹  the saints for the work of ministry, that is, ²  to build up the body of Christ,

They tied the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod by blue cord, so that it was above the waistband of the ephod, so that the breastpiece would not be loose from the ephod, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

Then he ¹  put the tunic ²  on Aaron, ³  wrapped the sash around him, ⁴  and clothed him with the robe. ⁵  Next he put the ephod on him ⁶  and placed on him ⁷  the decorated band of the ephod, and fastened the ephod closely to him with the band. ⁸ 

For the music director; according to the tune of “Lilies;” ²  by the Korahites, a well-written poem, ³  a love song. My heart is stirred by a beautiful song. ⁴  I say, “I have composed this special song ⁵  for the king; my tongue is as skilled as the stylus of an experienced scribe.” ⁶ 

Who knows if he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet ¹  he will be master over all the fruit of ²  my labor ³  for which I worked so wisely ⁴  on earth! ⁵  This also is futile!

¹ The Lord says, “Wise people should not boast that they are wise. Powerful people should not boast that they are powerful. ²  Rich people should not boast that they are rich. ³
