But when ¹  some were stubborn ²  and refused to believe, reviling ³  the Way ⁴  before the congregation, he left ⁵  them and took the disciples with him, ⁶  addressing ⁷  them every day ⁸  in the lecture hall ⁹  of Tyrannus.

Then Paul took the men the next day, ¹  and after he had purified himself ²  along with them, he went to the temple and gave notice ³  of the completion of the days of purification, ⁴  when ⁵  the sacrifice would be offered for each ⁶  of them.

“‘If a man has sexual intercourse with ¹  his sister, whether the daughter of his father or his mother, so that he sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace. you must bring to your city gates ¹  that man or woman who has done this wicked thing – that very man or woman – and you must stone that person to death. ² 

his father and mother must seize him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his city.

accusing her of impropriety ¹  and defaming her reputation ²  by saying, “I married this woman but when I had sexual relations ³  with her I discovered she was not a virgin!”

Then the father and mother of the young woman must produce the evidence of virginity ¹  for the elders of the city at the gate.
