For he shattered the bronze gates, and hacked through the iron bars. ¹ 

Can spoils be taken from a warrior, or captives be rescued from a conqueror? ¹ 

When they heard this, they entered the temple courts ¹  at daybreak and began teaching. ²  Now when the high priest and those who were with him arrived, they summoned the Sanhedrin ³  – that is, the whole high council ⁴  of the Israelites ⁵  – and sent to the jail to have the apostles ⁶  brought before them. ⁷ 

And others experienced mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment.

so the king of Assyria will lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Cush, both young and old. They will be in undergarments and barefoot, with the buttocks exposed; the Egyptians will be publicly humiliated. ¹ 

He was led away after an unjust trial ¹  – but who even cared? ²  Indeed, he was cut off from the land of the living; ³  because of the rebellion of his own ⁴  people he was wounded.

All of them intend ¹  to do violence; every face is determined. ²  They take prisoners as easily as one scoops up sand. ³

Then King Zedekiah ordered that Jeremiah be committed to the courtyard of the guardhouse. He also ordered that a loaf of bread ¹  be given to him every day from the baker’s street until all the bread in the city was gone. So Jeremiah was kept ²  in the courtyard of the guardhouse.

The captain of the guard appointed Joseph to be their attendant, and he served them. ¹  They spent some time in custody. ² 

Nevertheless the Kenite will be consumed. ¹  How long will Asshur take you away captive?”

if you should see among them ¹  an attractive woman whom you wish to take as a wife,

They captured the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah, ¹  where he ²  passed sentence on him.

If he comes by ¹  and confines ²  you ³  and convenes a court, ⁴  then who can prevent ⁵  him?

The Lord spoke ¹  to Jeremiah a second time while he was still confined in the courtyard of the guardhouse. ² 

So ¹  Jeremiah was put in prison in a cell in the dungeon in Jonathan’s house. ²  He ³  was kept there for a long time.

Therefore they will now be the first to go into exile, ¹  and the religious banquets ²  where they sprawl on couches ³  will end.

So ¹  they seized ²  them and put them in jail ³  until the next day (for it was already evening).

except ¹  that the Holy Spirit warns ²  me in town after town ³  that ⁴  imprisonment ⁵  and persecutions ⁶  are waiting for me.
