Thus one of the men ¹  who have accompanied us during all the time the Lord Jesus associated with ²  us,

But carefully select from among you, brothers, ¹  seven ²  men who are well-attested, ³  full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge ⁴  of this necessary task. ⁵ 

For he says to Moses: “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” ¹ 

Is this really the kind of fasting I want? ¹  Do I want a day when people merely humble themselves, ²  bowing their heads like a reed and stretching out ³  on sackcloth and ashes? Is this really what you call a fast, a day that is pleasing to the Lord?

Then Abimelech said, “Look, my land is before you; live wherever you please.” ¹ 

but I show covenant faithfulness ¹  to the thousands ²  who choose ³  me and keep my commandments.

I am like a man who cannot hear and is incapable of arguing his defense. ¹ 

May your hand help me, for I choose to obey ¹  your precepts.

The righteous person is cautious in his friendship, ¹  but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Death and life are in the power ¹  of the tongue, ²  and those who love its use ³  will eat its fruit.

Train ¹  a child ²  in the way that he should go, ³  and when he is old he will not turn from it. ⁴ 

And I will choose some of them as priests and Levites,” says the Lord.

Jesus answered them, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  everyone who practices ²  sin is a slave ³  of sin.

I will rescue ¹  you from your own people ²  and from the Gentiles, to whom ³  I am sending you

So in the same way at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod of discipline ¹  or with love and a spirit of gentleness?

“Listen, sir, ¹  you are a mighty prince ²  among us! You may bury your dead in the choicest of our tombs. None of us will refuse you his tomb to prevent you ³  from burying your dead.”

Our livestock must ¹  also go with us! Not a hoof is to be left behind! For we must take ²  these animals ³  to serve the Lord our God. Until we arrive there, we do not know what we must use to serve the Lord.” ⁴ 

But you choose ¹  from the people capable men, ²  God-fearing, ³  men of truth, ⁴  those who hate bribes, ⁵  and put them over the people ⁶  as rulers ⁷  of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

And the Lord ¹  said, “I will make all my goodness ²  pass before your face, and I will proclaim the Lord by name ³  before you; I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy.” ⁴
