I will pour out my anger on you; the fire of my fury I will blow on you. I will hand you over to brutal men, who are skilled in destruction.

To arouse anger, to take vengeance, I have placed her blood on an exposed rock so that it cannot be covered up.

For ¹  the Lord God of Israel who rules over all ²  says, ‘If you go to Egypt, I will pour out my wrath on you just as I poured out my anger and wrath on the citizens of Jerusalem. ³  You will become an object of horror and ridicule, an example of those who have been cursed and that people use in pronouncing a curse. ⁴  You will never see this place again.’ ⁵ 

But they rebelled against me, and refused to listen to me; no one got rid of their detestable idols, ¹  nor did they abandon the idols of Egypt. Then I decided to pour out ²  my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; they did not follow my statutes and they rejected my regulations (the one who obeys them will live by them), and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I decided to pour out ¹  my rage on them in the wilderness and destroy them. ² 

“‘But the children ¹  rebelled against me, did not follow my statutes, did not observe my regulations by carrying them out (the one who obeys ²  them will live by them), and desecrated my Sabbaths. I decided to pour out ³  my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the wilderness.

This is what the Lord says: “Because Edom has committed three crimes ¹  – make that four! ²  – I will not revoke my decree of judgment. ³  He chased his brother ⁴  with a sword; he wiped out his allies. ⁵  In his anger he tore them apart without stopping to rest; ⁶  in his fury he relentlessly attacked them. ⁷ 

They made him jealous with other gods, ¹  they enraged him with abhorrent idols. ² 

When Haman saw that Mordecai was not bowing or paying homage to him, he ¹  was filled with rage.

So they hanged Haman on the very gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. The king’s rage then abated.

Thus ¹  his anger burns against me, and he considers me among his enemies. ² 

that the evil man is spared from the day of his misfortune, that he is delivered ¹  from the day of God’s wrath?

Scatter abroad ¹  the abundance ²  of your anger. Look at every proud man ³  and bring him low;

Pour out your judgment ¹  on them! May your raging anger ²  overtake them!

Yes, ¹  we are consumed by your anger; we are terrified by your wrath.

because of your anger and raging fury. Indeed, ¹  you pick me up and throw me away.

A king’s wrath ¹  is like ²  a messenger of death, ³  but a wise person appeases it. ⁴ 

A gift given ¹  in secret subdues ²  anger, and a bribe given secretly ³  subdues ⁴  strong wrath. ⁵ 

Wrath is cruel and anger is overwhelming, ¹  but who can stand before jealousy? ² 

I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of my fury, and you will be melted in it.
