From Ephraim there were 20,800 warriors, who had brought fame to their families. ¹ 

Who can open the doors of its mouth? ¹  Its teeth all around are fearsome.

Many bulls ¹  surround me; powerful bulls of Bashan ²  hem me in.

Violent men perjure themselves, ¹  and falsely accuse me. ²

chase them with your gale winds, and terrify ¹  them with your windstorm.

They surround me like water all day long; they join forces and encircle me. ¹ 

Turn back toward us, O Lord! How long must this suffering last? ¹  Have pity on your servants! ² 

You will subdue ¹  a lion and a snake; ²  you will trample underfoot a young lion and a serpent.

Wrath is cruel and anger is overwhelming, ¹  but who can stand before jealousy? ² 

In anger, in fury, and in wrath I myself will fight against you with my mighty power and great strength! ¹ 

So in the same way at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

You be on guard against him ¹  too, because he vehemently opposed our words.

but only a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury ¹  of fire that will consume God’s enemies. ²
