Call to mind now: ¹  Who, ²  being innocent, ever perished? ³  And where were upright people ⁴  ever destroyed? ⁵ 

“Have I ¹  ever said, ²  ‘Give me something, and from your fortune ³  make gifts ⁴  in my favor’?

Or ‘Deliver me ¹  from the enemy’s power, ²  and from the hand of tyrants ³  ransom ⁴  me’?

Although ¹  I am innocent, ²  I could not answer him; ³  I could only plead ⁴  with my judge ⁵  for mercy.

Only in two things spare me, ¹  O God, ²  and then I will not hide from your face:

“But now, O Job, listen to my words, and hear ¹  everything I have to say! ² 

I love the Lord because he heard my plea for mercy, ² 

I seek your favor ¹  with all my heart. Have mercy on me as you promised! ² 

Many people entreat the favor ¹  of a generous person, ²  and everyone is the friend ³  of the person who gives gifts. ⁴ 

Two things ¹  I ask from you; ²  do not refuse me before I die:

The king did not even listen to Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah, who had urged him not to burn the scroll. ¹ 

Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do.”

“At that time, ¹  I will willingly respond,” ²  declares the Lord. “I will respond to the sky, and the sky ³  will respond to the ground;

But she came and bowed down ¹  before him and said, ²  “Lord, help me!”

When ¹  they came to the crowd, a man came to him, knelt before him,

He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. ¹  Then Pilate ordered that it be given to him.

But at his gate lay ¹  a poor man named Lazarus ²  whose body was covered with sores, ³ 

Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ¹  ‘Fall on us!’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us!’ ² 

So when the Samaritans came to him, they began asking ¹  him to stay with them. ²  He stayed there two days,

So he gave orders to have them baptized ¹  in the name of Jesus Christ. ²  Then they asked him to stay for several days.
