And so, because it was the Jewish day of preparation ¹  and the tomb was nearby, ²  they placed Jesus’ body there.

The proposal seemed appropriate to ¹  the king and the entire assembly.

The Israelites who were returning from the exile ate it, along with all those who had joined them ¹  in separating themselves from the uncleanness of the nations of the land to seek the Lord God of Israel.

So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him because they had seen all the things he had done in Jerusalem ¹  at the feast ²  (for they themselves had gone to the feast). ³ 

When he saw that this pleased the Jews, ¹  he proceeded to arrest Peter too. (This took place during the feast of Unleavened Bread.) ² 

We ¹  sailed away from Philippi ²  after the days of Unleavened Bread, ³  and within five days ⁴  we came to the others ⁵  in Troas, ⁶  where we stayed for seven days.

Preparations were made, ¹  and the priests stood at their posts and the Levites in their divisions as prescribed by the king.

During the feast it was customary to release one prisoner to the people, ¹  whomever they requested.

Gazing at Jesus as he walked by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” ¹ 

Now some Greeks ¹  were among those who had gone up to worship at the feast.

He observed the daily requirements for sacrifices that Moses had specified for Sabbaths, new moon festivals, and the three annual celebrations – the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Temporary Shelters. ¹ 

Then, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies should not stay on the crosses on the Sabbath ¹  (for that Sabbath was an especially important one), ²  the Jewish leaders ³  asked Pilate to have the victims’ legs ⁴  broken ⁵  and the bodies taken down. ⁶ 

They will take some of the blood and put it on the two side posts and top of the doorframe of the houses where they will eat it.

Then on the fifteenth day of the same month ¹  will be the festival of unleavened bread to the Lord; seven days you must eat unleavened bread.

They may observe it on the fourteenth day of the second month ¹  at twilight; they are to eat it with bread made without yeast and with bitter herbs.

This is the one about whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is greater than I am, ¹  because he existed before me.’

Thus they were looking for Jesus, ¹  and saying to one another as they stood in the temple courts, ²  “What do you think? That he won’t come to the feast?”

And those men said to him, “We are ceremonially defiled by the dead body of a man; why are we kept back from offering the Lord’s offering at its appointed time among the Israelites?”

There must not be a scrap of yeast within your land ¹  for seven days, nor can any of the meat you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain until the next morning. ² 

The Israelites who were in Jerusalem observed the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days with great joy. The Levites and priests were praising the Lord every day with all their might. ¹
