What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, ¹  has discovered regarding this matter? ² 

For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited ¹  to him as righteousness.” ² 

Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, ¹ 

So then those who believe ¹  are blessed along with Abraham the believer.

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the ¹  slave woman and the other by the free woman.

And it could be said that Levi himself, who receives tithes, paid a tithe through Abraham.

So Esau went to Ishmael and married ¹  Mahalath, the sister of Nebaioth and daughter of Abraham’s son Ishmael, along with the wives he already had.

“Now ¹  the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. ²  The ³  rich man also died and was buried. ⁴ 

I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. ¹  But you want ²  to kill me, because my teaching ³  makes no progress among you. ⁴ 

And so by persevering, Abraham ¹  inherited the promise.

Abraham said to God, “O that ¹  Ishmael might live before you!” ² 

Then Abimelech asked ¹  Abraham, “What prompted you to do this thing?” ² 

But Sarah noticed ¹  the son of Hagar the Egyptian – the son whom Hagar had borne to Abraham – mocking. ² 

Then Abraham reached out his hand, took the knife, and prepared to slaughter ¹  his son.

“We are descendants ¹  of Abraham,” they replied, ²  “and have never been anyone’s slaves! How can you say, ³  ‘You will become free’?”

Abraham looked up ¹  and saw ²  behind him ³  a ram caught in the bushes by its horns. So he ⁴  went over and got the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.

After Abraham’s death, God blessed ¹  his son Isaac. Isaac lived near Beer Lahai Roi. ² 

Brothers, ¹  descendants ²  of Abraham’s family, ³  and those Gentiles among you who fear God, ⁴  the message ⁵  of this salvation has been sent to us.

Before he had finished praying, there came Rebekah ¹  with her water jug on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milcah (Milcah was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor). ² 

So when God destroyed ¹  the cities of the region, ²  God honored ³  Abraham’s request. He removed Lot ⁴  from the midst of the destruction when he destroyed ⁵  the cities Lot had lived in.
