You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ ¹  but rather, ‘I have been sent before him.’

But a time ¹  is coming – and now is here ²  – when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks ³  such people to be ⁴  his worshipers. ⁵ 

So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people ¹  see signs and wonders you will never believe!” ² 

Jesus told him, “Go home; ¹  your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and set off for home. ² 

But we know where this man ¹  comes from. ²  Whenever the Christ ³  comes, no one will know where he comes from.” ⁴ 

(Now he did not say this on his own, ¹  but because he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the Jewish nation, ² 

Paul said in his defense, ¹  “I have committed no offense ²  against the Jewish law ³  or against the temple or against Caesar.” ⁴ 

Rather they had several points of disagreement ¹  with him about their own religion ²  and about a man named Jesus ³  who was dead, whom Paul claimed ⁴  to be alive.

For if by my lie the truth of God enhances ¹  his glory, why am I still actually being judged as a sinner?

Not ¹  only this, but we also rejoice ²  in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received this reconciliation.

so that the righteous requirement of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together until now.

You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who has ever resisted his will?”

because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord ¹  and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

But I have written more boldly to you on some points so as to remind you, because of the grace given to me by God

Think about the circumstances of your call, ¹  brothers and sisters. ²  Not many were wise by human standards, ³  not many were powerful, not many were born to a privileged position. ⁴ 

For even though I am absent physically, ¹  I am present in spirit. And I have already judged the one who did this, just as though I were present. ² 

And I want you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord.

For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward. But if I do it unwillingly, I am entrusted with a responsibility.

For we do not write you anything other than what ¹  you can read and also understand. But I hope that you will understand completely ²
