concerning his Son who was a descendant ¹  of David with reference to the flesh, ² 

But I say, live ¹  by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. ² 

Now the works of the flesh ¹  are obvious: ²  sexual immorality, impurity, depravity,

Now those who belong to Christ ¹  have crucified the flesh ²  with its passions ³  and desires.

by the fresh and living way that he inaugurated for us ¹  through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, ² 

I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will get drunk on their own blood, as if it were wine. ¹  Then all humankind ²  will recognize that I am the Lord, your deliverer, your protector, ³  the powerful ruler of Jacob.” ⁴ 

For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires ¹  that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to ²  each other, so that you cannot do what you want.

So, since Christ suffered ¹  in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin, ² 

“When a body has a burn on its skin ¹  and the raw area of the burn becomes a reddish white or white bright spot,

for you are still influenced by the flesh. ¹  For since there is still jealousy and dissension among you, are you not influenced by the flesh and behaving like unregenerate people? ² 

So he went down and dipped in the Jordan seven times, as the prophet had instructed. ¹  His skin became as smooth as a young child’s ²  and he was healed.

among whom ¹  all of us ²  also ³  formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath ⁴  even as the rest… ⁵ 

his son Ishmael was thirteen years old ¹  when he was circumcised.

Because of the anxiety that makes me groan, my bones protrude from my skin. ¹

You are my brothers – my very own flesh and blood! ¹  Why should you delay any further in bringing the king back?’

Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus ¹  began to argue with one another, ²  “How can this man ³  give us his flesh to eat?”

Pairs ¹  of all creatures ²  that have the breath of life came into the ark to Noah.

But ¹  you must not eat meat ²  with its life (that is, ³  its blood) in it. ⁴
