Yet do it with courtesy and respect, ¹  keeping a good conscience, so that those who slander your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame when they accuse you. ² 

Have you forgotten all the wicked things that have been done in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem by your ancestors, by the kings of Judah and their ¹  wives, by you and your wives?

When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you must certainly die,’ ¹  and you do not warn ²  the wicked about his behavior, ³  the wicked man will die for his iniquity, but I will hold you accountable for his death. ⁴ 

Thus the poor have hope, and iniquity ¹  shuts its mouth. ² 

Such is the destiny ¹  of all who forget God; the hope of the godless ²  perishes,

that the elation of the wicked is brief, ¹  the joy of the godless ²  lasts but a moment. ³ 

Is not your wickedness great ¹  and is there no end to your iniquity?

Is it not misfortune for the unjust, and disaster for those who work iniquity?

He strikes them for their wickedness, ¹  in a place where people can see, ² 

Then from the wicked the light is withheld, and the arm raised in violence ¹  is broken. ² 

for evil men will lose their power, ¹  but the Lord sustains ²  the godly.

Then I entered the precincts of God’s temple, ¹  and understood the destiny of the wicked. ² 

Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power ¹  of the wicked!

Certainly you will see it with your very own eyes – you will see the wicked paid back. ¹ 

I will have nothing to do with a perverse person; ¹  I will not permit ²  evil.

The wicked have no chance for deliverance, ¹  for they do not seek your statutes.

The Lord is just; he cut the ropes of the wicked.” ¹ 

You will not be afraid ¹  of sudden ²  disaster, ³  or when destruction overtakes ⁴  the wicked; ⁵ 

A worthless and wicked person ¹  walks around saying perverse ²  things; ³ 

The memory ¹  of the righteous is a blessing, but the reputation ²  of the wicked will rot. ³
