The Lord protects those who love him, but he destroys all the wicked.

for the Lord will be ¹  the source of your confidence, ²  and he will guard your foot ³  from being caught in a trap. ⁴ 

The one who puts up security for a stranger ¹  will surely have trouble, ²  but whoever avoids ³  shaking hands ⁴  will be secure.

The evil person is ensnared ¹  by the transgression of his speech, ²  but the righteous person escapes out of trouble. ³ 

It is dangerous ¹  to have zeal ²  without knowledge, and the one who acts hastily ³  makes poor choices. ⁴ 

Thorns and snares ¹  are in the path of the perverse, but the one who guards himself keeps far from them.

Like a thorn ¹  that goes into the hand of a drunkard, so is a proverb in the mouth of a fool. ² 

The sluggard ¹  says, “There is a lion in the road! A lion in the streets!” ² 

Like ¹  a roaring lion or a roving bear, ²  so is a wicked ruler over a poor people. ³ 

Do not go out into the countryside. Do not travel on the roads. For the enemy is there with sword in hand. ¹  They are spreading terror everywhere.” ² 

At the risk ¹  of our lives ²  we get our food ³  because robbers lurk ⁴  in the countryside. ⁵ 

He sees the sword coming against the land, blows the trumpet, ¹  and warns the people, ² 

And people will settle there, and there will no longer be the threat of divine extermination – Jerusalem will dwell in security.

But if anyone walks around at night, ¹  he stumbles, ²  because the light is not in him.”

When ¹  they had brought them ²  before the magistrates, they said, “These men are throwing our city into confusion. ³  They are ⁴  Jews

The next day, because we were violently battered by the storm, ¹  they began throwing the cargo overboard, ² 

or “Who will descend into the abyss?” ¹  (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is led into sin, ¹  and I do not burn with indignation?

But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is useless and about to be cursed; ¹  its fate is to be burned.

For God wants you ¹  to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing good.
