But stay alert at all times, ¹  praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that must ²  happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

When the jailer woke up ¹  and saw the doors of the prison standing open, ²  he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, ³  because he assumed ⁴  the prisoners had escaped.

When Noah awoke from his drunken stupor ¹  he learned ²  what his youngest son had done ³  to him.

Then ¹  a hand touched me and set me on my hands and knees. ² 

Be silent in the Lord’s presence, all people everywhere, ¹  for he is being moved to action in his holy dwelling place. ² 

The angelic messenger ¹  who had been speaking with me then returned and woke me, as a person is wakened from sleep.

So they came ¹  and woke him up saying, “Lord, save us! We are about to die!”

Watch out! Stay alert! ¹  For you do not know when the time will come.

For the culmination of all things is near. So be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of prayer. ¹
