So this is what the Lord, the one who delivered Abraham, says to the family of Jacob: ¹  “Jacob will no longer be ashamed; their faces will no longer show their embarrassment. ² 

When ¹  Jacob heard that Shechem ²  had violated his daughter Dinah, his sons were with the livestock in the field. So Jacob remained silent ³  until they came in.

God said to him, “Your name is Jacob, but your name will no longer be called Jacob; Israel will be your name.” So God named him Israel. ¹ 

Then Jacob started out ¹  from Beer Sheba, and the sons of Israel carried their father Jacob, their little children, and their wives in the wagons that Pharaoh had sent along to transport him.

Laban called it Jegar Sahadutha, ¹  but Jacob called it Galeed. ² 

He picked out for us a special land ¹  to be a source of pride for ²  Jacob, ³  whom he loves. ⁴  (Selah)

the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, ¹  the son of Nahor,

So Jacob went down to Egypt and died there, ¹  along with our ancestors, ² 

Pharaoh said to Jacob, “How long have you lived?” ¹ 

Jacob’s well was there, so Jesus, since he was tired from the journey, sat right down beside ¹  the well. It was about noon. ² 

Isaac loved Esau because he had a taste for fresh game, ¹  but Rebekah loved ²  Jacob.

Now Jacob cooked some stew, ¹  and when Esau came in from the open fields, he was famished.

Jacob obeyed his father and mother and left for Paddan Aram.

Then Jacob woke up ¹  and thought, ²  “Surely the Lord is in this place, but I did not realize it!”

Jacob asked them, “My brothers, where are you from?” They replied, “We’re from Haran.”

In the evening he brought his daughter Leah ¹  to Jacob, ²  and Jacob ³  had marital relations with her. ⁴ 

So Rachel ¹  gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife, and Jacob had marital relations with ²  her.

When Jacob saw the look on Laban’s face, he could tell his attitude toward him had changed. ¹ 

The Lord said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers ¹  and to your relatives. I will be with you.” ² 

So Jacob sent a message for Rachel and Leah ¹  to come to the field ²  where his flocks were. ³
